PLuTO: Patent Language Translations Online

PLuTO translation services are now available to millions of people worldwide.

The European Patent Office (EPO), via its Esp@cenet service (http://www.espacenet.com/), now provides an automatic patent translation service between the English--Portuguese language pair using PLuTO technology.

This extends this reach of Esp@acenet, which already provides translations between English, French, German, Italian and Spanish, to large Portuguese speaking communities in Europe and South America. Through PLuTO machine translation technology, Portuguese patent abstracts, claims and descriptions can now be translated in English and vice versa.

The PLuTO consortium has worked closely with the EPO over the last number of months to provide this service, and are very pleased to see the project already bearing fruits at such an early stage.
